WAYS TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD AT WORK

WAYS TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD AT WORK

Have you ever started to feel invisible at work? You do the same tasks day in and day out, and you may be brilliant at what you do, but that has become the norm. There are many reasons why people may want to stand out from the crowd at work. Maybe it is time you try and get that promotion or a pay raise, or you just want to get the recognition that you think you deserve for the work you do. So, here are a few ways in which you can stand out in the office:

In general, just do more. You may have just been sticking to the tasks that your job description lists, but how about doing other odd jobs beyond this. If you are working on a project, your boss will notice if you are putting extra effort in, such as coming in early or staying late to get the job done. Leaving work at 5 on the dot doesn’t show that you are truly dedicated to your projects.

Being the helping hand around your office will be sure to get you noticed. Little things to help your co-workers out will show that you are a team player. You don’t want to act like everything that you do at work is for your own benefit, helping your co-workers shows that you want to help your team and company move forward.

You may think that to improve you have to work on your weaknesses, but in some cases, you have to focus on your strengths and play to them. If you have a particular strength, make it known! Other co-workers may see your strength as a weakness and may come to you for help. Once you’ve focused on your strengths, you should then work on your weaknesses. Check if anyone else in the office has your weakness as their strength, and see if you can enlist them to help you out.

It may sound simple, but doing what you’ll say you’ll do really proves something. Keeping promises to your co-workers and fulfilling commitments is something that is highly underrated. Coming through for co-workers will prove your reliability and will make you stand out as someone who can be trusted to keep a promise.

Nothing will make you stand out more than getting results. There is no point in telling people the changes you are going to make or the new things that you will be doing, you need to show them! Getting results means that you are doing something good, and this could lead fellow co-workers to coming to you for help, and this is sure to get you noticed.

Overall, just try to be nice and encourage others in your workplace, and they will do the same for you.
